The Art of Destruction
Destrudo: The opposite of Libido (The urge to create)
According to a controversial Freudian Psychology concept, destrudo is the urge to destroy both oneself and everything else.
"The hypothesis of a death instinct, the task of which is to lead organic life back into the inanimate state." - Sigmund Freud, "The Ego and the Id", in On Metapsychology (Middlesex, 1987), p. 380
Kintsugi (金継ぎ, "golden repair")
Kintsugi is a practice in Japanese culture where they repair broken pottery by bonding the areas of breakage with lacquer or glue combined with powder gold.
The philosophy of Kintsugi is very similar to Wabi-Sabi which is to embrace imperfection, as the practice highlights the cracks and areas of repair in the life of an object, allowing the repaired object to continue its service.
